Warrant Officer William Robert Martin of Belfast served with the Royal Air Force's No. 26 Operational Training Unit at RAF Wing, Buckinghamshire.

Warrant Officer William Robert Martin (1358095) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. He was the son of Helena Martin of Belfast.

William died on 22nd May 1945 aged 23 years old. He was an Air Gunner on board Vickers Wellington LP863 of RAF No. 26 Operational Training Unit. The Mark X bomber took off from RAF Wing, Buckinghamshire on a daytime raid. After takeoff, the plane broke up in mid-air and came down near Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

William Robert Martin’s grave is in Section LL, Grave 36 of Carnmoney Cemetery, Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim. His headstone bears the inscription:
