The Killyleagh War Memorial tablets grace the wall of Killyleagh Castle. The memorial stands at the junction of Frederick Street and Shrigley Road. The first plaque stood at the flank tower of the castle at Linden Walk, Killyleagh, Co. Down.

The unveiling of the marble plaque, made to the order of the Women’s Work Guild, was “short and simple”. It depicts a shield and a wreath. During The Great War, women of the guild gave up their time to make woolen garments for the men at the front. They would also send aid parcels and medical kits, meeting once a week to arrange dispatch.

The memorial bears the following inscription relating to the 1939 – 1945 conflict. “In Honoured Memory of those of this district who gave their lives in the World War”.
