Kilrea Railway Station in Co. Londonderry opened in 1880. In 1941, the Royal Air Force, while training, simulated a raid on the Goods Yard.

The old Kilrea Railway Station stood on Drumagarner Road, Kilrea, Co. Londonderry on what was then known as the New Row. The Derry Central Railway company operated the line between Magherafelt and Macfin Junction.

The line opened on 18th February 1880, and the Northern Counties Committee took over the operation of the station in September 1901.

During the Second World War, the British Army and Royal Air Force used the rural landscape of Co. Londonderry for training exercises. On 18th November 1941, Lieutenant J.R. Bainbridge photographed an R.A.F. Bomber simulating a dive-bombing attack on the station at Kilrea.

The Ulster Transport Authority closed the Kilrea Railway Station to passengers on 28th August 1950. Goods trains continued to use the station for a further 9 years until its final closure on 1st October 1959.
