The village of Fivemiletown, Co. Tyrone lies around 16 miles east of Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh and 26 miles west-south-west of Dungannon, Co. Tyrone.
It is still known for its creamery as it was in the years before the Second World War. Trains would stop on the village’s Main Street and load and unload goods from the creamery and the butter market. By the 1940s, however, road transport was in the ascendence and the Clogher Valley Railway closed on 1st January 1942. The last train stopped in Fivemiletown the previous day.
