On 16th June 1943, Robert Meekin, Honorary Secretary of the Ulster Kerry Blue Terrier Club wrote to Major General Russell P. Hartle. He expressed regret that the U.S. Army General in command of 34th Infantry Division could not become Honorary President of the club.
