On 13th November 1925, a ceremony took place unveiling the war memorial sculpture in Portadown, Co. Armagh. It bears the names of the fallen from the town.

Greaser James Barbour was at sea for only 8 weeks when the 22 year old from Ballyclare, Co. Antrim went down with MV Leon Martin on 13th November 1940.

Sub-Lieutenant William John Hurst of Sydenham, Belfast, Co. Down died on 13th November 1940 when a bomb tore through HMS Decoy docked in Alexandria, Egypt.
