Private Bernard McCrystal (13011025) served in 79th Company, The Pioneer Corps during World War Two. Born on 11th June 1898, he was the son of Eliza McCrystal of Broughshane, Co. Antrim, and the husband of Elizabeth McCrystal of Ballymena, Co. Antrim.
Bernard McCrystal died on 2nd April 1944 aged 46 years old. His grave is in Section VIII, Row F, Grave 9 of Beach Head War Cemetery, Anzio, Italy. His headstone bears the inscription:
Sweet Sacred Heart of Jesus grant him eternal rest.
