Sergeant Charles Decker Mills (5671243) served in 151st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, Army Air Corps during the Second World War. He was the eldest son of Charles Mills and Isabella Mills of 68 Hillview Street, Belfast. His father served in 14th Battalion (Young Citizens) Royal Irish Rifles in The Great War.

Before transferring to the Parachute Regiment, Charles served in the Somerset Light Infantry. He had 7 years’ service with 5 of them spent in India. He died there on 5th October 1942 aged 25 years old.

Charles Decker Mills’ grave is in Section 1, Row F, Grave 11 of Delhi War Cemetery, India. His headstone bears the inscription:

Jesus understands. All his ways are best, my son.
