At the time, 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles was part of the British Expeditionary Force rear-guard on the way to Dunkirk. Trolland’s name appeared on British Army List of Missing (No. 172) to be Circulated to POW Camps.

Charles Michael Brandon’s grave is in Section XVII, Row B, Grave 23 of Dozinghem Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
