Lance Corporal David Gwynfryn Humphreys (3957954) served in 1/5th Battalion Welch Regiment during the Second World War. Born on 12th February 1915, he was the son of Edward Humphreys and Rachael Humphreys (née Newman) of Rhondda Cynon Taff, Wales.
He was the husband of Elizabeth Humphreys of Newry, Co. Down. The couple had a daughter named Angela Humphreys.
David Gwynfryn Humphreys died on 16th August 1944 aged 28 years old. His grave is in Section IX, Row D, Grave 16 of Ranville War Cemetery, Ranville, Normandy, France. His headstone bears the inscription:
Requiescat in pace. Amen. He was my beloved daddy. Angela.
