Sergeant David Hugh Kerrigan of Fivemiletown, Co. Tyrone fought with 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment in Normandy, commanding 12th Platoon, B Company during the crossing of the River Seine at Vernon.

Sergeant David Hugh Kerrigan (5250370) served in 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment during the Second World War. Born on 10th February 1913, he was the son of John Kerrigan and Elizabeth Kerrigan (née Credden) of Fivemiletown, Co. Tyrone.

David died on 26th August 1944 aged 31 years old. He was Commanding 12th Platoon, B Company of 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment as they fought along the Route de Magny, Vernon crossing the River Seine.

David Hugh Kerrigan’s grave is in Section III, Row K, Grave 26 of Bayeux War Cemetery, Bayeux, Normandy, France. His headstone bears the inscription:
