Fusilier David Lawson (4196588) served in 1st Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers during the Second World War. He was the son of Robert Lawson and Annie Lawson of Bella Vista Cottage, Newcastle, Co. Down.

He died on 6th May 1944 aged 29 years old during the Royal Welch Fusiliers‘ involvement in the Battle of Kohima in northern India.

David Lawson’s grave is in Section 11, Row A, Grave 17 of Kohima War Cemetery, India. His name is on the Newcastle War Memorial, Newcastle, Co. Down. His headstone in India bears the inscription:
