Second Lieutenant David Morrow (190209) served in 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers attached to 6th Battalion Rajputana Rifles during the Second World War. Born on 28th June 1913, he was the youngest son of Matthew Morrow and Agnes W. Morrow (née Moffat) of Ballymagee Street, Bangor, Co. Down. The family later lived at Ward Avenue, Bangor, Co. Down.
David attended Bangor Grammar School, Bangor, Co. Down. There, he excelled at sport, playing for the 1st XV Rugby Team in 1930, and the 1st XI Cricket Team in 1931. On leaving school, he began playing for Bangor Rugby Football Club. At this time, he began working for Eagle Star and British Dominions Insurance Co. in Belfast. He later worked for Messrs. Martin, Son, and Co. Ltd. on Donegall Square South, Belfast.
He enlisted during the Second World War and trained as an Officer. On 7th June 1941, he was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He died on 30th September 1942 aged 29 years old.
David Morrow’s grave is in Section 2, Row E, Grave 13 of Rawalpindi War Cemetery, Pakistan. His name is on a family memorial in Bangor Cemetery, Bangor, Co. Down.
