Rigger's Mate Harry O'Leary (R/SR 66035) served in the Royal Navy Special Reserve during the Second World War. Born in 1919 in Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, he was the husband of Ellen O'Leary (née Logan) of Belfast.
Harry died in a drowning accident on the Bar Class boom defence vessel H.M.S. Barnstone (Z37) in Plymouth, Devon, England on 19th October 1945 aged 26 years old. Royal Naval records list Harry as having ‘Died On War Service’.
Harry O’Leary’s grave is in Section HH, Grave 85 of Carnmoney Cemetery, Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim. He lies alongside his mother-in-law Margaret Logan (née Davidson) (1897 – 5th August 1962) and father-in-law Andrew George Logan (12th August 1893 – 3rd May 1927).
