Rifleman Hugh Francis Kelly of Jamaica Street, Belfast fought in the Battle of Normandy with 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles, landing on Sword Beach on D-Day.

Rifleman Hugh Francis Kelly (7023165) served in 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. He was the son of Hugh Kelly and Sarah Ann Kelly (née Mitchell) of Jamaica Street, Belfast.

He died on 18th June 1944 aged 21 years old. At the time, 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles was engaged in the Normandy campaign, having landed on Sword Beach on D-Day, 6th June 1944.

Hugh Francis Kelly’s grave is in Section XI, Row F, Grave 20 of Bayeux War Cemetery, Bayeux, Normandy, France.
