Corporal Jack Trolland of Co. Antrim died between 27th May 1940 and 2nd June 1940 while serving as part of the British Expeditionary Force during the withdrawal to Dunkirk.

Corporal Jack Trolland (7013033) served in 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. He was born in Co Antrim and lived in Belfast at the outbreak of war.

Rifleman Trolland received the General Service Palestine Medal in 1940 for service there before the Second World War. He died between 27th May 1940 and 2nd June 1940 aged 25 years old. At the time, 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles was part of the British Expeditionary Force rear-guard on the way to Dunkirk. Trolland’s name appeared on British Army List of Missing (No. 172) to be Circulated to POW Camps.

Jack Trolland has no known grave. His name is on Column 128 of the Dunkirk Memorial, Dunkirk, France.
