Major James Brian Watt-Smyth served in the Special Forces Executive during the Second World War in Burma.

Major James Brian Watt-Smyth (ABRO/91) served in the Burma Rifles during World War Two. Born on 6th August 1917 in Naas, Kildare, Ireland, he was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Gerald Watt-Smyth DSO and Florence Watt-Smyth (BA Cantab) of Larne, Co. Antrim.

From April 1944, he served in Burma as a Staff Captain in Special Operations Executive Force 136. He died between 1st February 1945 and 28th February 1945 aged 27 years old. A likely date would be around 8th February 1945.

James Brian Watt-Smyth’s grave is in Section 28, Row H, Grave 21 of Taukkyan War Cemetery, Myanmar. His headstone bears the inscription:
