Rifleman James Moore of Belfast, Co. Antrim served with 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during Operation Varsity on 24th March 1945.

Rifleman James Moore (7017079) served in 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during World War Two. He was the son of John Moore and Annie Moore of Wigton Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim, and the husband of Annie R Moore of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

He died during Operation Varsity on 24th March 1945 aged 30 years old. Despite the number of casualties sustained by the Rifles, the mission was successful. 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles quickly and effectively secured their objectives around the village of Hamminkeln.

James Moore has no known grave. His name is on Panel 8 of the Groesbeek Memorial, Gelderland, Netherlands.
