Lance Corporal James Murphy MM (7012729) served in 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, Army Air Corps during World War Two. He was the son of Hugh Murphy and Ellen Murphy of Belfast, Co. Antrim, and the husband of Annie Murphy of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

James Murphy died on 11th March 1943 aged 30 years old. He was a recipient of the Military Medal. His grave is in Section 4, Row A, Grave 18 of Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia. His headstone bears the inscription:
