Rifleman James Scott of Belfast served in the British Expeditionary Force's France and Belgium campaign of May 1940 with 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles.

Rifleman James Scott (7013196) served in 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. He was the son of Preston Scott and Agnes Scott of Belfast.

He died on 29th May 1940 aged 26 years old. This period of the Second World War saw some of 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles‘ fiercest fighting. They made up part of the rearguard of the British Expeditionary Force during the retreat to Dunkirk, France.

James Scott’s grave is in Grave 8 of Woesten Churchyard, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. His headstone bears the inscription:

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
