Fusilier James Wilson of Belfast, Co. Antrim died in Burma during 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers' advance to Yenangyaung.

Fusilier James Wilson (6980235) served in 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers during the Second World War. He was the son of John Wilson and Catherine Wilson of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

He died on 13th April 1942 aged 21 years old. His Battalion was flown to Rangoon, Burma in March 1942. From there, they set out to destroy oil wells in Yenangyaung. Fighting took place there on discovering Chinese forces had destroyed the wells on 17th April 1942. Japanese troops cut off the troops but several Officers and Fusiliers had already lost their lives in the advance to Yenangyaung.

James Wilson has no known grave. His name is on Face 12 of the Rangoon Memorial, Myanmar.
