Driver John Coard McCullough (13098346) served in the Royal Engineers during the Second World War. Born on 25th November 1916, he was the son of Gerard "Gerry" McCullough and Mary Ellen McCullough (née Coard) of Belfast.

In December 1937 he married Bridget Brennan of Belfast in Westminster, Middlesex. The couple had 3 children in the early years of their marriage. Margaret McCullough was born on 10th May 1938 in Belfast.

By 1939, records show that John moved from Belfast to Coventry, Warwickshire. His son John Joseph McCullough was born there on 2nd April 1939. The family lived at 11 Union Street, Coventry, Warwickshire. John’s job was as an Aero Fitter’s Labourer. By 1941, John moved to Birmingham, Warwickshire.

John Coard McCullough died on 30th April 1945 aged 29 years old. Registration of the death took place in Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales. His grave is in Section A, Row KF, Grave 65 of Milltown Cemetery, Belfast. His headstone bears the inscription:
