Corporal John Gray from Belfast, Co. Antrim served in both World War One and World War Two. He died at a military hospital in his hometown on 21st February 1943.

Corporal John Gray (T/134162) served in the Royal Army Service Corps during World War Two. He was the son of Thomas Gray and Elizabeth "Ellen" Gray of 1 Stephen Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim.

John was the husband of Eleanor Gray of Empire Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim. The couple had a son, John Thomas “Jack” Gray.

The Royal Army Service Corps Corporal had served in World War One and was Mentioned in Despatches. After the First World War, he worked for the Belfast Water Commissioners, rejoining the army in 1939. He died at a military hospital in Belfast, Co. Antrim on 21st February 1943 aged 49 years old.

John Gray’s grave is in Glenalina Extension, Section AS, Grave 9 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast, Co. Antrim. His headstone bears the inscription:

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death.
