Ordinary Seaman John James Hawe (D/JX 197773) served with the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He was the son of John James Hawe and Margaret Hawe of Belfast.
Before the war, John married Letitia McWilliams Martin of the Ligoniel area of North Belfast. His last given address was 66 Carlow Street, Belfast. The 1943 Belfast Street Directory erroneously lists his name as Jack Haw. He died on 22nd October 1945 aged 44 years old. His funeral took place the following day.
John James Hawe’s grave is in Glenalina Extension, Section V1, Grave 276 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast. His headstone bears the inscription:
