Private John Nelson Rainey (7021746) served in 9th (Londonderry) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery during the Second World War. Born in Campsie, Omagh, Co. Tyrone on 23rd February 1902, he was the son of John Nelson Rainey and Charlotte Rainey (née Campbell) of Co. Carlow, Ireland.
On 21st January 1930, Rainey married Muriel Minnie Dean at Brentwood Registry Office, Brentwood, Essex. The couple divorced in 1956. On 20th February 1959, John Nelson Rainey married Evan McLeod in Kensington, London. He died four years later on 26th August 1963 in North West Marylebone, London.
