Gunner John Thomson died suddenly at Palace Barracks, Holywood, Co. Down. He shares a grave with Pilot Officer Thomas Norman Stockdale in Dundonald, Co. Down.

Gunner John Thomson (1560614) served in the Royal Artillery during the Second World War. He was the son of Henry Thomson and Minnie Margaret Thomson, and the husband of Mary "Molly" Thomson (née McTaggart).

He died suddenly at Palace Barracks, Holywood, Co. Down on 28th June 1945 aged 29 years old. The Gunner’s last listed residence was 107 Clandeboye Road, Bangor, Co. Down. The same address is also that of Pilot Officer Thomas Norman Stockdale who died serving with the Royal Air Force on 28th August 1943. Both Thomson and Stockdale are buried together in the plot of John and Mary Scott in Dundonald, Co. Down.

John Thomson’s grave is in Section D1, Joint Grave 306 of Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Co. Down. A funeral service took place on 30th June 1945.
