Engineer Commander Leslie Henry Willis Mauger served in the Royal Navy on board vessels such as HMS Adamant and HMS Dolphin before his death in Belfast, Co. Antrim in 1941.

Engineer Commander Leslie Henry Willis Mauger served in the Royal Navy during World War Two. Born in 1898, he was the son of Henry Louis Mauger and Emily Minnie Mauger (née Neville) of Beckenham, Kent.

The 1901 British census lists the family in Birchington, Kent. By 1911, they have moved to 4 Rose Villa, Dendy Road, Paignton, Devon. Leslie had an elder sister Elsie Doris Mauger and a younger brother Reginald Louis Mauger. Leslie married Marjorie CA Webber in 1922 in Totnes, Devon.

He died of an illness at a military hospital in Northern Ireland on 5th April 1941 aged 43 years old. He had served on the Belfast-built HMS Adamant and on HMS Dolphin. His father had died months earlier on 10th February 1941.

Leslie Henry Willis Mauger’s grave is in Section 4V, Grave 3 of Bangor Cemetery, Bangor, Co. Down. A funeral service took place at Bangor Abbey at 1400hrs on 8th April 1941.
