Fireman Matthew Bronski served in the Naval Auxiliary Personnel during the Second World War. He was the son of Matthew Bronski and Madge Bronski, and husband of Annie Bronski of Burnbank, Hamilton, Lanarkshire.
He died on 3rd August 1943 aged 33 years old. He served on HMS Asturias when it came under torpedo attack from an Italian submarine off the coast of Freetown, Sierra Leone. As 10,000 tons of water flooded the engine rooms, 4 members of the crew died.
Matthew Bronski’s grave is in Glenalina Extension, Section BS, Grave 129 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast.
