Rifleman Norman Boyd of Belfast, Co. Antrim served with 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during Operation Varsity on 24th March 1945.

Rifleman Norman Boyd (7022506) served in 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during World War Two. He was the son of Francis Boyd and Margaret Boyd of 29 Upper Charleville Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim.

Norman joined 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles in May 1943. He died during Operation Varsity on 24th March 1945 aged 21 years old. Despite the number of casualties sustained by the Rifles, the mission was successful. 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles quickly and effectively secured their objectives around the village of Hamminkeln.

Norman Boyd has no known grave. His name is on Panel 8 of the Groesbeek Memorial, Gelderland, Netherlands.
