Private Percy James Edwards (3960432) served with 1st Battalion Welch Regiment during the Second World War. He was the son of Ernest Walter Edwards and Teresa Josephine Edwards of Belfast, and the husband of Winnifred Edwards of Belfast.
Private Edwards died on 4th June 1943 aged 26 years old. He had served in North Africa as Erwin Rommel’s Afrika Corps swept through Cyrenaica and Libya. He was likely taken prisoner of war during the conflict. Soon after the First Battle of El Alamein, 1st Battalion Welch Regiment entered a period of reorganisation.
