Major Peter Augustus Edward Watson met and married Margaret Joan Alistair Kinley in Portrush, Co. Antrim while he served in Northern Ireland with 4th Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment.

Major Peter Augustus Edward Watson (89337) served in 4th Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment during World War Two. Born on 22nd February 1920, he was the son of the late Thomas Watson and Dorothea "Doris" Ferguson Watson (née Harris) of Eton, Buckinghamshire.

Peter enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and transferred to Royal Berkshire Regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant on 17th June 1939. In 1940, his unit was part of the Dunkirk Evacuation. In December 1940, the unit transferred to 148th Independent Infantry Brigade and served in Northern Ireland until mid-1942.

On 8th August 1942, Major Watson married Margaret Joan Alistair Kinley in Portrush, Co. Antrim. The couple had a daughter, Clare Petrina Margaret Watson.

Peter Augustus Edward Watson died on 27th February 1945 aged 24 years old. His grave is in Section 48, Row F, Grave 15 of Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. His headstone bears the inscription:
