Rifleman Robert Fulton (7011706) served in 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. He was the son of Archie Fulton and Rose Fulton of Dervock, Co. Antrim.
Robert enlisted in 1934. He saw service in China, Egypt, and Palestine before the outbreak of the Second World War. By May 1940, he was in Belgium as part of the British Expeditionary Force.
He died on 16th May 1940 aged 33 years old during fighting in Louvain, Belgium. Soldiers of 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles held the entrance, subways, and a platform of the railway station. Throughout the 16th May 1940 and the surrounding days, the Rifles repelled enemy attack.
Robert Fulton’s grave is in Row A, Grave 5 of Leuven Communal Cemetery, Vlaams-Brabant, Belgium. His headstone bears the inscription:
Faithful unto death.
