Corporal Robert John Baine McKeown of Co. Down served in 6th Battalion (Home Defence) Royal Ulster Rifles in Northern Ireland during the Second World War.

Corporal Robert John Baine McKeown (25094) served in 6th Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during World War Two. He was the son of James McKeown and Mary McKeown of Drumaness, Co. Down, and the husband of Margaret Anne McKeown (née Kennedy) of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

Later known as John, McKeown appeared as Robert John McKeown on the 1901 Irish Census. He lived in Drumaness, Co. Down with his parents, 1 grandfather, and 6 siblings. John and Margaret later had a daughter, Ellen Catherine Kennedy.

John McKeown died on 16th March 1941 aged 54 years old. His grave is the only Commonwealth War Graves Commission grave in Christ Church Churchyard, Kilmore, Co. Down. His headstone bears the inscription:
