Rifleman Robert McDowell (7012084) served in 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. He was born in Belfast, Co. Antrim.

Rifleman McDowell received the General Service Palestine Medal in 1940 for service there before the Second World War. He died on 29th May 1940 aged 26 years old. At the time, 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles was part of the British Expeditionary Force rear-guard on the way to Dunkirk.

Robert McDowell’s grave is in Grave 9 of Boezinge Churchyard, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
