Lance Sergeant Robert Samuel Crozier was one of 4 sons of a family from Ballygawley, Co. Tyrone to serve in the Second World War.

Lance Sergeant Robert Samuel Crozier MM (1877596) served in 252nd Field Company, Royal Engineers during the Second World War. He was the son of Castable Robert John Crozier and Jeannie Crozier of Ballygawley, Co. Tyrone, and the husband of Mary Ellen Crozier of Caledon, Co. Tyrone.

He was one of 4 brothers to enlist and serve in the British Army during the Second World War. Sergeant William Frederick Crozier MM served in the Royal Engineers, Pipe Major John Crozier and Lance Corporal Andrew Crozier both served in the Irish Guards. In March 1944, Robert was also a recipient of the Military Medal for “conspicuous bravery”. He died on 24th April 1944 aged 26 on active service in Anzio, Italy.

Robert Samuel Crozier’s grave is in Section I, Row H, Grave 3 of Beach Head War Cemetery, Anzio, Italy. His headstone bears the inscription:

Resting where no shadows fall. Ever remembered by his wife and children.
