Lieutenant Robin Benjamin Bunch Coleman (87490) served in 9th Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery during World War Two. Born in 1916, he was the son of James Coleman and Doris Coleman of Ballymena, Co. Antrim.
Coleman attended Ballymena Academy, Ballymena, Co. Antrim, and Campbell College, Belfast, Co. Down. He was a member of the Officers’ Training Corps at the Belfast grammar school. Before going to war, Lieutenant Coleman resided at Greystone, Galgorm Road, Ballymena, Co. Antrim. He was a member of West Presbyterian Church in the town.
Robin Benjamin Bunch Coleman died on 5th March 1943 aged 33 years old. At the time he was a prisoner of war and has no known grave. His name is on Column 3 of the Singapore Memorial, Singapore. His father James was Robin’s next of kin and received effects of £1340, 7s, 10d after his son’s death during the war.
