Second Lieutenant Samuel Fleming Stewart served in 7th Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during World War Two. Stewart lived at 28 Rosetta Park, Belfast. He died on active service in Belfast, Co. Antrim on 12th February 1943.
Stewart’s name is on a memorial once housed at the North of Ireland Cricket and Football Club on Ormeau Road, Belfast. The memorial listed 28 men from the club who gave their lives between 1939 and 1945.
His name also features on a memorial stone in the Grand Hall of the Royal Courts of Justice on Chichester Street, Belfast. Before the war, he had been a solicitor’s apprentice.
