Gunner Samuel Pritchard Fox (7009770) served in 381st Battery, 120th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery during World War Two. His father served as a Sapper in the Royal Engineers in World War One.
Born on 12th June 1905, he was the son of William Fox and Isabella Fox (née Courtney) of 27 Roseland Place, Belfast, Co. Antrim and the husband of Harriet Fox of 169 Matilda Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim. Samuel and Matilda had 3 children, Joe Fox, Reta Fox, and Ann Fox.
Samuel had an older sister Regina Pritchard Fox born in 1899. Three elder brothers followed; William Fox in 1900, John Courtney Fox in 1902, and Joseph Henry Courtney Fox in 1904. He also had 4 younger siblings, Thomas Fox born in 1908, Ellen Robinson Courtney Fox born in 1910. Between 1910 and 1912, Samuel’s father remarried and Samuel had 2 step-siblings, George Fox in 1912, and Malcolm Fox in 1914.

Samuel Pritchard Fox died on 20th March 1942 aged 37 years old at the UVF Hospital at Craigavon House, Belfast, Co. Down. Before the war, he had been a member of Donegall Road Temperance Loyal Orange Lodge 731. His grave is in Glenalina Extension, Section T1, Grave 406 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast, Co. Antrim. His headstone bears the inscription:
Gone to be with Christ.
