Sergeant Thomas Leslie of Belfast saw action in France and Belgium with 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles as part of the British Expeditionary Force during the Second World War.

Sergeant Thomas Leslie (7006851) served in 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. He was the son of Thomas Leslie and Mary Ann Leslie (née Loughran) of 32 Mayfair Street, Belfast.

He died on 28th May 1940 aged 37 years old during operations that would bring 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles to Dunkirk.

Thomas Leslie’s grave is in Grave 5 of Woesten Churchyard, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. His headstone bears the inscription:

Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on him. Our Lady, pray for him. RIP.
