Guardsman William Abraham Simpson (2723525) served in 3rd Battalion Irish Guards during the Second World War. He was the son of William Simpson and Deborah Simpson (née Russell) of Kilvergan, Lurgan, Co. Armagh.

He enlisted in 1942 aged 18 years old. Before the outbreak of the Second World War, he attended Seagoe Parish Church, Portadown, Co. Armagh and was a member of the Carne Sunday School. He was also a member of Loyal Orange Lodge No. 17 Tamnificarbett.

William had 2 brothers who saw action with the Royal Air Force during the Second World War; Pilot Officer George Simpson and Corporal Joseph Russell Simpson.

William Abraham Simpson died in Belgium on 7th September 1944 aged 20 years old. His grave is in Section IV, Row C, Grave 14 of Geel War Cemetery, Antwerp, Belgium. His headstone bears the inscription:

Forever with the Lord.
