Rifleman William George Donaldson Ruddock and fellow soldiers of 2nd Battalion The London Irish Rifles came under attack while engaging the enemy in Tunisia in 1943.

Rifleman William George Donaldson Ruddock (7014282) served in 2nd Battalion The London Irish Rifles, Royal Ulster Rifles during World War Two. He was the son of Samuel Ruddock and Esther Ruddock of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

He died on 26th February 1943 aged 20 years old when German forces attacked the Djebel Rihane (Jabal ar Rayhan) area west of the road between Bou Arada (Bu Aradah) and Goubellet (Quballa).

William George Donaldson Ruddock’s grave is in Section 11, Row A, Grave 2 of Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia. His headstone bears the inscription:

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
