Private William Gibson (5725299) served in 1st Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment during the Second World War. He was the son of William Gibson and Jane Gibson of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

William Gibson died on 1st July 1944 aged 30 years old. His grave is in Section XXV, Row E, Grave 15 of Bayeux War Cemetery, Bayeux, Normandy, France.

His name is also on a family memorial in Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast. His headstone in France bears the inscription:

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember.
