Guardsman William John Watters (2723656) served in 2nd Battalion Irish Guards during the Second World War. He was the son of Robert George Watters and Catherine Watters of Belfast.
William John Watters died on 22nd September 1944 aged 20 years old during Operation Market Garden. His grave is in Section 11, Row B, Grave 10 of Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Gelderland, Netherlands. His headstone bears the inscription:
Far from his native land he sleeps. He died for freedom.
