Rifleman William Norman Jenkins was the second son of Samuel Jenkins and Sarah Jenkins who lived in the Waterside area of Derry/Londonderry. He served in the Royal Ulster Rifles and London Irish Rifles.

Rifleman William Norman Jenkins (7020240) served in 2nd Battalion London Irish Rifles, Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. Born on 3rd December 1919, he was the second son of Samuel Jenkins and Sarah Jenkins (née Philson) of 19 Strabane Old Road, Waterside, Derry/Londonderry.

Jenkins enlisted in November 1940 and spent 3 months recovering in a military hospital from wounds received in North Africa. He returned to the front shortly before he died on 6th October 1943 aged 24 years old.

William Norman Jenkins’ grave is in Section VIII, Row B, Grave 39 of Sangro River War Cemetery, Italy. His headstone bears the inscription:
