Stoker 2nd Class William Slasor (C/KX 790954) served in the Royal Navy during World War Two. Born on 25th November 1927, he was the son of William Slasor and Isabella Slasor of Newcastle, Northumberland. The family later lived in West Ealing, Middlesex.
He died on 23rd March 1947 aged 20 years old while based on HMS Vengeance, a ship docked in Northern Ireland. His place of death was Sydenham Wharf, Belfast, Co. Down. Reports suggest the young stoker drowned while attempting to break out of ship.
William Slasor’s grave is in Glenalina Extension, Section BS, Grave 102 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast, Co. Antrim. His headstone bears the inscription:
