Sergeant William Young (6978443) served in the Royal Irish Fusiliers during the Second World War. Born on 3rd December 1916, he was the son of Robert Young and Elizabeth Young (née Crooks) of Coagh, Co. Tyrone.
William was the youngest of 8 siblings; Sarah Young born on 17th November 1894, Samuel Young born on 17th October 1896, Robert Young born on 10th November 1898, Henry Young born on 16th September 1900, Isabella Young born on 4th March 1903, Joseph Young born on 2nd January 1906, and James Alexander Young born on 22nd July 1908. His oldest brother Samuel died in 1917 while serving in Belgium during The Great War.
Sergeant William Young became a prisoner of war during the Second World War while serving in the Royal Irish Fusiliers. He was married to a lady named Betty Gunn. William died on 10th May 2005 in Billingham, England.
