Warrant Officer Class II Edward Potts received the Distinguished Conduct Medal in April 1945 for gallant and distinguished services.

Warrant Officer Class II Edward Potts DCM (3384774) was a Company Sergeant Major in 1st Battalion East Lancashire Regiment during the Second World War. He was the son of Edward Potts and Agnes Potts, and the husband of Margaret Potts of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

He died on 12th April 1945 aged 30 years old. The London Gazette published on 19th April 1945 listed Potts as a recipient of the Distinguished Conduct Medal.

In recognition of gallant and distinguished services in northwest Europe.

Edward Potts’ grave is in Section 1, Row B, Grave 5 of Becklingen War Cemetery, Niedersachsen, Germany. Burial here took place on 24th June 1946 following a temporary burial at Eystrup, Niedersachsen, Germany. Potts’ name is on the Newtownards War Memorial, Newtownards, Co. Down. His headstone bears the inscription:
